About the Unscholar

I'm Richie Parsons, founder of The Unscholar. Having grown up in church my whole life and attended a Christian school from K-12, I felt like I had a fairly solid grasp on the Bible. I could ace Bible trivia and quote scripture with the best of them. One day, however, I was challenged by a pastor and friend to look at the Bible differently. He pointed out a few passages I had never paid attention to before and down the rabbit hole I went. The result was a two year deep dive into the Bible with no guard rails, no bumpers, and no pre-conceived notions. I simply allowed the Bible to say whatever it said, and I paid attention.

 

What I learned is that my education and interaction with the Bible up to this point had been primarily focused on the "what" with little regard for or consideration of the "why." And, as it turns out, the why is so much more transformative.
