The Unscholar
Reading the Bible Differently

Most of what you will read here is not original to me. While I will insert my own thoughts and analysis, the bulk of this content is simply shining a light on research that has been done by many dedicated and intelligent individuals, most of whom really love Jesus and are simply trying to understand the Bible better and help others do the same. But what I found is that it can be really difficult for a scholar to regurgitate the more complex ideas and information at a level of understanding that most of us can grasp. So what we end up with is an information gap between the scholars and researchers who conduct thorough analysis and the majority of Christians who source their Bible information from devotionals and church services.
While many scholars try to bridge this gap, I’ve found they still hold very closely to the scholarly side of things and have trouble breaking down this research in a way that most people can interact with confidently.
The Unscholar is my attempt at bringing this information to a wider audience, and presenting it in a way that is hopefully much easier for people without extensive Bible training to understand. My hope is that by engaging with this research, you will grow to love and appreciate the culture that produced the Bible, the people God used to write it and the Savior it reveals to us.
